This policy explains what information Glonks.com (https://www.glonks.com/) collects, why, and what you can do about it.
What we collect
Account details. When you create an account we store your username, your email address and a hash of your password (never the password itself). You may add a display bio, a location and a website to your profile; these are public.
Sign-in with Google, GitHub or X. If you sign in through one of these providers, the provider sends us your account id, your name, your public avatar and, where the provider shares it, your email address. We use this only to create or find your account and to show your name and avatar on the forum. We never receive your password for that provider, and we never post to your provider account.
Content you publish. Topics, replies, likes, bookmarks, uploaded images and your profile are stored so the forum can show them. Topics and replies are public.
Technical data. We keep the IP address used when an account is created and when a message is posted, together with server logs, to fight spam and abuse and to keep the site secure. Logs are deleted on a rolling basis.
Cookies. We use a small number of first-party cookies: one that keeps you signed in, one that protects forms against forgery, one for your theme preference, and short-lived cookies that carry a one-time message or a sign-in step. We do not use advertising cookies.
How we use it
- to run the forum: sign you in, show your content, send you notifications you asked for;
- to keep the site safe: detect spam, enforce the rules, secure accounts;
- to contact you about your account, for example to reset a password.
We do not sell your information and we do not use it for advertising.
Google user data
Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The Google data we receive (account id, name, email address, profile picture) is used only to sign you in and to display your profile on this forum.
Who can see it
Your username, avatar, profile and everything you post are visible to anyone who can view the forum. Your email address is never shown publicly. We share data with service providers only as needed to run the site, for example our hosting provider, a content delivery network, an email delivery service and, when enabled, a spam-detection service. Administrators may disclose information when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
Your account and content stay until you delete them or ask us to. If you delete your account, your profile is removed and your posts are either removed or kept under an anonymised name so that conversations stay readable. Security logs are kept for a limited period.
Your choices
- You can edit your profile, change your email address or password, and connect or disconnect sign-in providers under Settings.
- You can ask the administrators to export or delete your data by contacting them through the forum.
- You can revoke this site's access from your Google, GitHub or X account settings at any time; your forum account then keeps working with a password.
Children
The forum is not intended for children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
We may update this policy. The date at the top of the page shows the latest version; material changes are announced on the forum.
